A smaller percentage of people buy the DLC maps, Fact...Which then results in these problems occurring at times, also like you've said there's so many variables of people having only 1st,2nd,3rd or 4th installments, or a mix mash.
A disable DLC option would have been the answer, when finding matches is proving difficult..I highly doubt this will happen at this late stage now. I've read a lot of people saying, save them on a flash drive rather than the console so you can unplug it as required.
Or just do what I did...delete the lot. Happy days.
