COD 2 didn't have the marketing anywhere near the level of Titanfall. The sales of Titanfall are pretty poor when you put it in perspective. YouTube was not a factor at all in 2006 (I had a youtube account in 2006). Titanfall was all over every major gaming website on the front page. Many people were hyping and praising the game before we knew even the smallest details because of the Activision break-up. When Titanfall released it was front page of twitch (now it's often not even on the first page/24 games). There was no public beta for COD 2. And you think COD 2 had tv commercials?
There's no excuse why a game doesn't launch with private matches. Private matches and custom games have been on console since Halo 2 which is almost a decade old. You're really grasping for straws when you include that in your argument. Also, as for gamemodes there have been dozens of shooters since COD2. It's not as if they are being picky with the gametypes. Attrition and Pilot Hunter are TDM with different scoring systems, CTF is CTF, and Hardpoint is Domination. The only somewhat creative gamemode is LTS and many players ignore it because it's not CODified enough. They were copying gamemodes from past games so I think they could have done a better job than only four modes.
People say the game is competitive yet there are only 10 weapons and two or three of them outclass the rest. Burn cards add a complete randomness factor and the titan is a support streak. People justify the bots as a way to earn a faster titan, but it's so marginal and insignificant. There's no question in my mind the game would have been better 9v9 with a cap on Titans or just making them harder to earn.
Since you're gonna compare it to COD 2, how about you compare the campaign modes and get back to me
